The concussive energy of your spell-word slams into the Vorka who are attempting to climb over the tangled heap of bodies at the foot of the steps. Your spell scatters them, but it does not deter or prevent others from attacking you. Several hurl themselves across the smouldering pile and then scramble to their feet. The first three to do this successfully are all armed with swords. As they come racing up the stairs, they rapidly blink their ghoulish eyes and clack their fanged jaws in an attempt to unnerve you in the vital seconds before combat.
