De toutes les sanctions l\u00e9gales existant depuis l’invention du droit, la peine de mort est certainement celle qui me fait le plus marrer. J’ai d\u00fb en comprendre inconsciamment la stupidit\u00e9 et la tra\u00eetrise (puisqu’il s’agit uniquement de vengeance) en voyant cette BD de mordillo (ou \u00e9tait-ce plut\u00f4t Franquin et ses \u00ab\u00a0id\u00e9es noires\u00a0\u00bb ?) o\u00f9 un pauv’ type \u00e9tait conduit \u00e0 l’\u00e9chafaud : la loi, \u00e9nonc\u00e9e en lettres de feu, disait que \u00ab\u00a0chaque personne qui tue une personne doit elle-m\u00eame \u00eatre ex\u00e9cut\u00e9e\u00a0\u00bb. On voyait ainsi des dizaines de bourreaux, \u00e0 la queue-leu-leu, attendant que son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur ait pass\u00e9 \u00e0 la guillotine le coupable. Chaque bourreau, ayant tu\u00e9, devait \u00e0 son tour \u00eatre tu\u00e9… certainement que toute la population fran\u00e7aise y serait pass\u00e9e, si le dessinateur n’\u00e9tait pas limit\u00e9 par une page\/une histoire.<\/p>\n

L’exemple du jour, qui me fait toujours aussi rire :<\/p>\n

Juan Manuel Alvarez, 25, could face the death penalty as he is charged with murder with \u00ab\u00a0special circumstances\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Police believe Mr Alvarez, who was not injured, left his Jeep on a railway line in a suicide bid before changing his mind at the last moment.<\/p>\n

He may appear in court on Thursday, depending on his medical condition.<\/p>\n

How the crash happened<\/p>\n

Some 200 people were injured, 40 of them badly, in the crash in the LA suburb of Glendale, which involved three trains.<\/p>\n

‘Unmoved’<\/p>\n

Prosecutors filed 10 charges of murder on Wednesday night but an 11th charge was being added after the discovery of another body in the wreckage, LA County District Attorney Steve Cooley said.<\/p>\n

Mr Cooley said the case was still being evaluated.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Special circumstances\u00a0\u00bb allegations can make a defendant eligible for the death penalty under state law.<\/p>\n

Reports of the detainee’s suicidal intentions left the DA unmoved.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0He’s not going to engage my sympathy because he was despondent.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0His despondency doesn’t move me,\u00a0\u00bb he told The Associated Press.<\/p>\n

Stuck in the track<\/p>\n

Mr Alvarez got out of his vehicle before the two commuter trains crashed during rush hour on Wednesday morning, one of them then hitting a freight train.<\/p>\n

According to a boss of rail company Metrolink, David Solow, the Jeep had become stuck between tracks and could not have been moved even if the driver had tried.<\/p>\n

Wreckage and bodies were showered over a quarter of a mile (half a kilometre) of track.<\/p>\n

Passengers said the impact sounded, and felt like, a bomb exploding.<\/p>\n

Dazed commuters who were unhurt by the derailment were seen helping fellow passengers with more severe injuries escape the wreckage.<\/p>\n

City work crews hurriedly piled sandbags in street gutters to block streams of fuel leaking from the train mixed with rain threatening to contaminate storm drains leading out to the ocean.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

En somme, le type a voulu se suicider. Il s’est manqu\u00e9, mais a tout de m\u00eame provoqu\u00e9 la mort de plusieurs individus. Du coup, bien qu’il ait chang\u00e9 d’avis, on va le forcer \u00e0 mourir. Qu’il soit d’accord ou pas, il va se suicider, c’est la loi.
